The guvernanta.gov.ro platform, created at the initiative of deputy prime Minister Oana Gheorghiu, centralizes information on the management of state-owned companies.
For the first time, the platform includes information on 121 active companies under the subordination, coordination, or authority of a central tutelary public institution, as well as on the people holding management positions within them.
Specifically, the platform provides access to more than 1,350 public documents concerning members of boards of directors or supervisory boards and executive boards. Of these, more than 650 are CVs of people holding management positions, while more than 600 are management contracts.
According to the aggregated information, more than 100 people hold at least two positions simultaneously. More than 370 people receive monthly incomes of up to RON 25,000, 115 receive incomes between RON 25,000 and 50,000, 36 receive incomes between RON 50,000 and 100,000, while one person receives more than RON 100,000 (EUR 20,000) per month, according to Economedia.
The platform is part of the broader effort to reform state-owned companies and increase transparency regarding the qualifications, salaries, and benefits of appointees, an effort necessary for good governance and to strategically support Romania’s position internationally in economic terms.
“Increasing transparency and opening the doors to what is happening inside state-owned companies is the way we will be able to properly ask the question: are they useful or not? To make a correct diagnosis of a company, you have to see its results, and these results depend to a large extent on the people who make the key decisions in these companies,” deputy prime minister Oana Gheorghiu said.
