Ten Romanian companies have been selected by the Financial Times for its “Long-term Growth Champions: Europe” of this year.
Overall, the list includes the 300 European companies with the highest annual growth rates over the 10 years to 2025, a period that included the widespread recession triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic and the sharp surge in inflation that followed Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
As in the previous year, IT and software companies represent the largest category in the ranking, accounting for 20% of the companies on the list.
Construction and engineering companies formed the second-largest group, accounting for 8% of those included in the ranking.
Energy and utilities companies account for 5% of the businesses in this year’s ranking. Fintech, financial services, and insurance companies account for three of the top five organizations and 6% of the entries.
To be included in Europe’s Long-Term Growth Champions list, a company had to meet the following criteria: revenue of at least EUR 100,000 generated in 2015; revenue of at least EUR 10 million generated in 2025; the company had to be independent (not a subsidiary or branch of any kind); the company had to be headquartered in Europe; and revenue growth between 2015 and 2025 had to be primarily organic.
The country with the most companies on the list is Italy, with 73. The UK ranks second with 46, followed by Germany with 45, France with 39, and Spain with 27. A total of 28 countries are represented.
The top-ranked company on this year’s list, with an annual growth rate of almost 99%, is the UK’s Yorkshire Gas and Power.
