The company will build a hall of approximately 23,500 square metres for the production of chassis subassemblies for semi-trailers and the assembly of complete vehicles, ebihoreanul.ro reported.
Schmitz Cargobull has committed to investing at least EUR 25 mln and creating at least 200 jobs.
“This amount refers strictly to the construction of the hall and its equipment. The land will be paid for separately,” Oradea mayor Florin Birta said.
The project will therefore become the largest industrial investment attracted by Oradea in 2026.
“It will certainly be the largest investment in Industrial Park IV. There are other plots here, but much smaller ones,” Birta said.
Construction of the factory could begin next summer, with production starting in 2028.
“Actual production would start in 2028,” Birta said.
According to the mayor, the construction schedule depends primarily on preparing the site, which is currently crossed by two high-voltage power lines.
“The relocation of one of the lines, which is the most important and affects them the most, is already in the tender procedure initiated by ADLO. The contract should be concluded this month, and the works should begin somewhere at the end of the year. In the meantime, the investor will design the factory so that the actual construction can begin next year,” Birta said.
The cost of relocating the main high-voltage line is estimated at about RON 10 mln and will be covered by the municipality. The second power line will be relocated as part of the smart specialisation park project, financed by European funds.
Separately, Oradea City Hall will arrange access to the site and bring utilities to the boundary of the plot.
