Energy expert Dumitru Chisăliță told Digi24 that new offers could be 10%-15% more expensive and warned that price increases could continue until the end of the year or even into 2027.
“Hidroelectrica was until now the supplier with the lowest price in the market, but also the company whose decisions influenced the strategy of its competitors. It was not only the supplier with the lowest price in the market, it was also the supplier that was practically followed by all other suppliers,” he said.
According to Chisăliță, Hidroelectrica’s position as a market leader means that the trend set by the company is likely to be followed by most other suppliers.
The expert recalled that the Smart Energy Association had anticipated electricity price increases this autumn as early as last month, based on three scenarios: increases of 3%-5%, 10%-15% or around 20%. The 10%-15% scenario is currently considered the most plausible.
“What is now becoming a certainty for me will probably cause many suppliers who have incurred costs as a result of what has happened recently to submit offers to customers with higher prices than those they currently have. The scenario that we announced 30 days ago remains plausible, somewhere between 10% and 15%, the probability being that many offers will come to these customers,” Chisăliță said.
