{"id":9748,"date":"2026-04-15T11:00:34","date_gmt":"2026-04-15T11:00:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=9748"},"modified":"2026-04-15T11:00:34","modified_gmt":"2026-04-15T11:00:34","slug":"german-giant-rheinmetall-aims-to-build-defense-ecosystem-in-romania-expand-production","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=9748","title":{"rendered":"German giant Rheinmetall aims to build \u201cdefense ecosystem\u201d in Romania, expand production"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rheinmetall, the leading weapons producer in Europe, intends to build a \u201cdefense ecosystem in Romania\u201d and massively expand its presence in the country with the production of vehicles, military ships, ammunition, air defense systems, and explosives, according to Nick \u0218tirban, Rheinmetall\u2019s representative in Romania, in an interview given to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mediafax.ro\/economic\/nick-stirban-reprezentantul-rheinmetall-in-romania-nu-vom-construi-doar-fabrici-construim-viitorul-ingineriei-si-industriei-de-aparare-romanesti-vrem-ca-made-in-romania-sa-devina-un-stand-23719915\">Mediafax<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Over 2,500 additional jobs will be created in Romania as part of this expansion.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rheinmetall already manufactures components in Romania for various vehicles in Media\u0219, such as the wheeled armored vehicle Caracal or Lynx. The company also operates a maintenance center and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.romania-insider.com\/rheinmetall-satu-mare-service-hub-feb-2026\">service hub in Satu Mare<\/a> for German equipment sent to Ukraine. In addition, it will build a powder factory for ammunition in the town of Victoria, Brasov County.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from its own developments, the company has already developed a network of local suppliers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe localization process through Rheinmetall has already begun. Rheinmetall involves the local industry in the production process, including through technology and know-how transfer,\u201d stated Nick \u0218tirban.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Over 100 Romanian companies are integrated into the German company\u2019s partner portfolio, according to the company representative.<\/p>\n<p>In the future, Rheinmetall plans to build a defense ecosystem in Romania.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis will by no means be limited only to vehicles, but will include, for example, military ships, ammunition, air defense systems, or the manufacture of explosives. In this way, Rheinmetall will create over 2,500 additional jobs in Romania, which horizontally will grow exponentially and sustainably by 3-4 times,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The company aims to create local production units in Romania for ammunition, armored vehicles, and equipment for the maritime and aerospace industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will not just build factories; we are building the future of Romanian engineering and the defense industry. We want \u2018Made in Romania\u2019 to become a standard of excellence in NATO armies.
