The information was also confirmed to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euronews.ro\/articole\/coiful-dacic-de-la-cotofenesti-furat-in-olanda-a-fost-gasit\" target=\"_blank\">Euronews Romania<\/a> by Dutch authorities and by sources within Romania\u2019s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, although prosecutors have yet to officially confirm the discovery.<\/p>\n<p>According to the media, the artifact may have suffered damage. Dutch prosecutors are expected to provide further details during a press conference scheduled later in the day. The Drents Museum announced on its <a href=\"https:\/\/drentsmuseum.nl\/en\/news\/het-museum-is-vandaag-gesloten\" target=\"_blank\">website<\/a> that it is closed today, April 2, &#8220;due to unforeseen circumstances.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Ernest Oberl\u00e4nder-T\u00e2rnoveanu, the\u00a0former director of the National Museum of History of Romania, who was dismissed after the heist, told <a href=\"https:\/\/hotnews.ro\/cum-a-fost-gasit-coiful-dacic-de-la-cotofenesti-erau-infasurate-in-prosop-si-ingropate-detalii-despre-starea-tezaurului-2208842\" target=\"_blank\">Hotnews.ro<\/a> that the artifacts \u201care intact.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was informed this morning by my colleagues in the Netherlands. There will be a press conference at the Drents Museum this afternoon, when the items will be presented,\u201d he said. &#8220;I cannot give further details, but I can say they were wrapped in a towel.\u00a0They were found buried.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The priceless helmet was part of a Romanian Dacian treasure exhibited at the Drents Museum in Assen, where it was stolen during the night of January 24-25, 2025.
