{"id":958,"date":"2024-07-18T12:02:56","date_gmt":"2024-07-18T12:02:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=958"},"modified":"2024-07-18T12:02:56","modified_gmt":"2024-07-18T12:02:56","slug":"romanian-productions-in-dedicated-section-at-wroclaws-new-horizons-film-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=958","title":{"rendered":"Romanian productions in dedicated section at Wroclaw\u2019s New Horizons Film Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <em>New Horizons Film Festival<\/em>, which takes place in Wroclaw, will run at this edition a section dedicated to Romanian films as part of the <em>Romania \u2013 Poland Cultural Season 2024 \u2013 2025<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Romania: Mirror Games will<\/em> showcase a program curated by film critic Mihai Chirilov. The program will cover eight recent and older films that have been selected \u201cin a dialogue of themes, contexts, cinematic techniques and authorial visions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The films that will be screened are Radu Jude\u2019s <em>Do Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World<\/em>, Lucian Bratu\u2019s <em>Angela Moves On<\/em>, Tudor Giurgiu\u2019s <em>Freedom<\/em>, Andrei Ujic\u0103 and Harun Farocki\u2019s <em>Videograms of a Revolution<\/em>, Andrei Cohn\u2019s <em>Holy Week<\/em>, Radu Gabrea\u2019s <em>Don\u2019t Be Afraid, Iacob!<\/em>, Cristi Puiu\u2019s <em>MMXX<\/em>, and Lucian Pintilie\u2019s <em>The Oak<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Chirilov and directors Tudor Giurgiu and Andrei Cohn will be present in Wroc\u0142aw for meetings and talks with the audiences.<\/p>\n<p>Wroc\u0142aw is also where this year\u2019s Caravan of New Romanian Cinema will end after touring six cities in Poland for ten months, the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) announced.<\/p>\n<p>One of the festival\u2019s new sections, Smart 7, has been developed by seven European Film Festivals, including the CLuj-Napoca-based Transylvania International Film Festival (TIFF) alongside Nowe Horyzonty (Poland), Kino Pavasaris IFF (Lithuania), IndieLisboa IFF (Portugal), Filmadrid (Spain), Reykjavik IFF (Island) and Thessaloniki IFF (Greece). The section, meant as a playground for new voices in European cinema, also includes this year the Romanian film <em>Where the Elephants Go<\/em>, directed by Gabi Virginia \u0218arga and C\u0103t\u0103lin Rotaru.<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, Queer Palm winner <em>Three Kilometers to the End of the World<\/em>, directed by Emanuel P\u00e2rvu, will be screened three times at the festival, adding to the list of Romanian productions presented to Wroclaw audiences.<\/p>\n<p>New Horizons Film Festival takes place between July 18 and July 28 in cinemas and online until August 4.
