{"id":9469,"date":"2026-03-25T09:00:58","date_gmt":"2026-03-25T09:00:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=9469"},"modified":"2026-03-25T09:00:58","modified_gmt":"2026-03-25T09:00:58","slug":"five-films-for-freedom-lgbtqia-short-films-available-online-for-audiences-in-romania","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=9469","title":{"rendered":"Five Films for Freedom: LGBTQIA+ short films available online for audiences in Romania"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Five Films For Freedom<\/em> (FFFF), the British Council&#8217;s global LGBTQIA+ short film program, returns with five new stories available free to Romanian audiences via the institution\u2019s digital platforms until 29 March.<\/p>\n<p>Now in its 12th year, Five Films For Freedom, delivered in partnership with BFI Flare: London LGBTQIA+ Film Festival, includes shorts from filmmakers in the UK, Mexico, Brazil, Vietnam, and France.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt a moment when LGBTQIA+ rights and visibility are being challenged in many places, we&#8217;re asking people everywhere to watch, share, and talk about these films. In places where queer lives are being pushed out of public view, every stream is a small act of visibility,\u201d Briony Hanson, Director of Film at the British Council, said.<\/p>\n<p>In Romania, the short films featured in this year\u2019s edition will also be presented at a screening on March 25 at Cinema Studio in Timi\u0219oara, with free admission.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s five films, available <a href=\"https:\/\/arts.britishcouncil.org\/five-films\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>, are Katie Lambert\u2019s <em>I Hate Helen<\/em>, Amy Adler\u2019s <em>Rag Dolls<\/em>, Laurie Bisceglia\u2019s <em>Room 206<\/em>, Edward Nguyen\u2019s <em>Sweat (M\u00f4 H\u00f4i)<\/em>, and Monica Palazzo &amp; Joana Galv\u00e3o\u2019s <em>Theo<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Launched in 2014 by the British Council and the British Film Institute, Five Films\u00a0For\u00a0Freedom aims \u201cto amplify LGBTQIA+ voices and advocate for love as a human right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>(Photo: still from I Hate Helen, courtesy of British Council)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>simona@romania-insider.com<\/em><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Five Films For Freedom (FFFF), the British Council&#8217;s global LGBTQIA+ short film program, returns with five new stories available free to Romanian audiences via the institution\u2019s digital platforms until 29 March.
