{"id":8805,"date":"2026-02-10T08:04:39","date_gmt":"2026-02-10T08:04:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=8805"},"modified":"2026-02-10T08:04:39","modified_gmt":"2026-02-10T08:04:39","slug":"romanias-finance-minister-targets-sub-6-yields-across-debt-curve-by-year-end","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=8805","title":{"rendered":"Romania\u2019s finance minister targets sub-6% yields across debt curve by year-end"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Finance minister <strong>Alexandru Nazare<\/strong> said the government aims to push yields on Romanian government debt below 6% across all maturities by the end of the year, citing improving investor sentiment and expectations that rating agencies will maintain the country\u2019s investment-grade status.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking in an interview cited by Bloomberg and <a href=\"https:\/\/economedia.ro\/ministrul-finantelor-vrea-reducerea-costurilor-de-imprumut-ale-romaniei-sub-6-pana-la-finalul-anului-ministrul-considera-ca-reducerea-deficitului-bugetar-este-un-proiect-national.html?mc_cid=9cfbc2d542&amp;mc_eid=cd1f92f96c\" target=\"_blank\">Economedia.ro<\/a>, Nazare said restoring investor confidence by bringing down Romania\u2019s large budget deficit should become a \u201cnational project,\u201d as the government seeks to regain control over fiscal policy.<\/p>\n<p>According to the minister, the ruling coalition led by prime minister Ilie Bolojan must remain focused on reducing the budget deficit to 6.2% of GDP this year, following better-than-expected progress in deficit reduction in 2025.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think 2025 was the moment when all the major parties realised that holding the line is extremely beneficial for Romania,\u201d Nazare said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He added that the government should \u201craise the level of ambition\u201d regarding Romania\u2019s sovereign rating, aiming not only to secure the removal of the negative outlook but eventually to achieve an upgrade.<\/p>\n<p>Romania is due to undergo its next sovereign rating review on Friday, when Fitch Ratings will reassess the country\u2019s creditworthiness.
