{"id":8360,"date":"2026-01-12T11:00:26","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T11:00:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=8360"},"modified":"2026-01-12T11:00:26","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T11:00:26","slug":"railway-company-begins-eur-100-mln-restoration-of-bucharests-main-train-station","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=8360","title":{"rendered":"Railway company begins EUR 100 mln restoration of Bucharest\u2019s main train station"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Railway Company CFR, which manages the railway infrastructure, launched Phase I of the strategic project to modernize, consolidate, and rehabilitate Gara de Nord &#8211; Bucharest&#8217;s main train station.\u00a0The investment amounts to around RON 500 million (including VAT).<\/p>\n<p>The project, titled \u201cNorth Railway Station \u2013 Between History and Future,\u201d was launched at the beginning of 2026 and aims to transform Romania\u2019s most important railway hub into a modern, safe space.\u00a0In total, the project covers an area of \u200b\u200bover 33,000 square meters.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>CFR has also launched a <a href=\"https:\/\/cfr.ro\/modernizare-gara-de-nord\/?fbclid=IwY2xjawPRnmZleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFmNEt6UjlKUEZEd3dXNjFZc3J0YwZhcHBfaWQQMjIyMDM5MTc4ODIwMDg5MgABHqKDQ8tyTIzCkDCyI1tz6HJhQ0EOLXbsBiGx3CaxZzrrcY19pA7mA8Njnr7m_aem_TTgkCs_wNLbNNd7-pRsekw\">special page<\/a> on its official website dedicated to the modernization project of Bucharest North Railway Station (Gara de Nord), offering the public access to detailed information about the station\u2019s rehabilitation works, their duration, and implementation stages.<\/p>\n<p>The modernization of the train station is considered one of the most important investments in urban railway infrastructure in Romania, both in terms of functionality and its symbolic value.<\/p>\n<p>Works in Phase I are already underway, and focus on facade restoration, structural strengthening of monument buildings, modernization of interior installations (electrical, thermal, sanitary, and safety), and improvement of urban and railway comfort.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Gara de Nord, the main railway hub of the capital, was built between 1868 and 1872.
