{"id":7782,"date":"2025-11-19T11:00:38","date_gmt":"2025-11-19T11:00:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=7782"},"modified":"2025-11-19T11:00:38","modified_gmt":"2025-11-19T11:00:38","slug":"romania-secures-un-dispute-tribunal-judge-position-after-international-competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=7782","title":{"rendered":"Romania secures UN Dispute Tribunal judge position after international competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Romania has won the international competition for a judge position at the UN Dispute Tribunal (or UNDT), with judge <strong>Adina Elvira-Ghi\u0163\u0103<\/strong> set to take over a seven-year term, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Romania secured 109 votes in the UN General Assembly during the international competition for filling a judge position at the UN Dispute Tribunal. The voting followed a technical stage for each candidate.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Judge Adina Elvira-Ghi\u0163\u0103, a professional with over 17 years of experience, will serve as a UNDT judge for 7 years, starting in July 2026.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Romanian Foreign Ministry noted that \u201cthe victory, the result of the campaign coordinated by the MFA and of the evaluations carried out by the UN Internal Justice Council, confirms Romania\u2019s reputation within the UN system and continues the series of diplomatic successes after the election of Romanian judges to the ICJ and ICC.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the appointment, Romanian foreign minister Oana\u00a0\u0162oiu said that &#8220;Romania has exemplary professionals who manage, through their work, to increase our respect and influence. Our human capital, at home and in the world, is the most important capital we have.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am deeply grateful for the excellent collaboration and the exceptional support I have received, and I hope to bring, through my activity, an honorable contribution to my country,\u201d said Adina Elvira-Ghi\u0163\u0103.<\/p>\n<p>According to the UN website, the UNDT is a \u201cfirst instance tribunal\u201d of the UN\u2019s internal justice system.
