At the age of six, he learned to play the accordion. He attended secondary school in Turda at the Boys\u2019 High School (now the \u201cMihai Viteazul\u201d National College), where he stood out for the virtuosity with which he performed light music pieces on the piano and accordion.<\/p>\n<p>He could not enroll in the university courses of the Bucharest Conservatory because he had Italian origins on his mother\u2019s side, and his father had been an officer in the interwar Romanian army. As such, he attended the Faculty of Mines in Petro\u0219ani, where he played with the faculty orchestra, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/agerpres.ro\/documentare\/2025\/11\/12\/a-murit-compozitorul-horia-moculescu-fisa-biografica--1502210\">Agerpres<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Later, he devoted himself exclusively to music, performing as a pianist in Bucharest and on the Romanian Black Sea coast. During this period, he began composing light music songs. His debut song was \u201cSalcia\u201d, released in 1973.<\/p>\n<p>Overall, he composed over 500 songs and received over 200 awards, collaborating with some of the most talented Romanian performers.\u00a0Moculescu\u2019s discography includes: <em>\u201cNorma Mia; Cosi Pallida; Madame; Ciao\u201d<\/em> (1962), <em>\u201cAl III-lea Festival De Muzic\u0103 U\u0219oar\u0103 Rom\u00e2neasc\u0103 Mamaia &#8211; August 1965\u201d<\/em> (1965), <em>\u201cSalcia\u201d<\/em> (1976), and the compilation <em>\u201cThe Best Romanian Music\u201d<\/em> (2005).<\/p>\n<p>He composed film music for feature films such as <em>\u201cMireasma ploilor t\u00e2rzii\u201d<\/em> (1984), <em>\u201cVar\u0103 sentimental\u0103\u201d<\/em> (1986), <em>\u201cPrim\u0103vara bobocilor\u201d<\/em> (1987), <em>\u201cMaria \u0219i marea\u201d<\/em> (1988), <em>\u201cSecretul armei&#8230; secrete\u201d<\/em> (1988), <em>\u201cMiss Litoral\u201d<\/em> (1991), and the TV series <em>\u201cPistruiatul\u201d<\/em> (1973).<\/p>\n<p>For several years (2009\u20132013), he created and hosted the TV show \u201cAten\u021bie, se c\u00e2nt\u0103!\u201d on national television.<\/p>\n<p>Famous TV personalities like Dan Negru and Marina Alm\u0103\u0219an marked Moculescu\u2019s passage in messages. The Romanian Ministry of Culture also highlighted his legacy, stating that he \u201ccomposed with talent, intelligence, humor, and elegance. His music did not raise its volume to be heard; it remained intimate, warm, and natural.
