{"id":7567,"date":"2025-11-05T11:00:28","date_gmt":"2025-11-05T11:00:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=7567"},"modified":"2025-11-05T11:00:28","modified_gmt":"2025-11-05T11:00:28","slug":"documentary-mondays-fiction-tuesdays-contemporary-and-classic-european-films-screened-at-czech-center-in-bucharest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=7567","title":{"rendered":"Documentary Mondays, Fiction Tuesdays: Contemporary and classic European films screened at Czech Center in Bucharest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Documentary Mondays<\/em> and <em>Fiction Tuesdays<\/em>, the programs of the Czech Center in Bucharest, return between November 10 and November 25 with screenings of six contemporary and classic European films.<\/p>\n<p><em>Documentary Mondays<\/em>, the Czech Center&#8217;s longest-running film program, proposes documentaries that reflect on the present, memory, trauma, and the ways in which we relate to the world. <em>Fiction Tuesdays<\/em> will showcase three films by director V\u00e1clav Vorl\u00ed\u010dek, an essential figure of Czechoslovak fantastic comedy, from cult fairy tales to subversive political satire.<\/p>\n<p>The selection of this November edition connects the two programs &#8220;through the way in which film records, distorts, reconstructs, or fabricates reality,&#8221; the organizers explain. The documentaries discuss meaning, vulnerability, the pandemic, memory, and film heritage; the feature films recall cinema&#8217;s freedom to explore the impossible.<\/p>\n<p>The productions screened as part of <em>Documentary Mondays<\/em> are Peter Kerekes&#8217;s <em>Wishing on a Star<\/em>, V\u00edt Klus\u00e1k and Marika Pech\u00e1\u010dkov\u00e1&#8217;s <em>The Great Nothing<\/em>, and Vladimir Kressl, Judit Elek, Krsto Papi\u0107, and Slavomir Popovici&#8217;s <em>The Shadows of History<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The screening of the documentary <em>The Great Nothing<\/em> will be followed by a Q&amp;A session with co-director Marika Pech\u00e1\u010dkov\u00e1, and the screening of the anthology <em>Shadows of History<\/em> will be followed by a discussion with its curator, Adina Br\u0103deanu.<\/p>\n<p>The V\u00e1clav Vorl\u00ed\u010dek films screened at <em>Fiction Tuesdays<\/em> are <em>The Girl on the Broomstick<\/em>, <em>How to Drown Dr. Mr\u00e1\u010dek, the Lawyer<\/em>, and <em>Three Wishes for Cinderella<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Entrance to the screenings is free, within available seating.
