{"id":7550,"date":"2025-11-04T14:02:03","date_gmt":"2025-11-04T14:02:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=7550"},"modified":"2025-11-04T14:02:03","modified_gmt":"2025-11-04T14:02:03","slug":"british-journalist-charlie-ottley-receives-romanian-citizenship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=7550","title":{"rendered":"British journalist Charlie Ottley receives Romanian citizenship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The British journalist and film producer Charlie Ottley, who is behind the <em>Wild Carpathia<\/em> and <em>Flavours of Romania<\/em> series, has obtained Romanian citizenship and is set to take the oath of allegiance this week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The National Authority for Citizenship announced that the oath will be taken by several foreigners on November 6.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe solemnity of the session [\u2026] is strengthened by the diversity of the countries of origin of the new Romanian citizens, who come from countries such as the United States of America, Great Britain, Italy, Turkey, Brazil, Jordan, Lebanon, Serbia, and India, a fact which confirms Romania\u2019s global vocation and the strength of its human and diplomatic ties,\u201d the ANC announced, cited by <a href=\"https:\/\/hotnews.ro\/jurnalistul-charley-ottley-a-obtinut-cetatenia-romana-dupa-o-asteptare-de-cinci-ani-documentarele-sale-au-promovat-romania-in-intreaga-lume-2101092\">HotNews<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>According to the same source, persons who have made significant contributions to the promotion of Romanian culture, civilization, and heritage will also take the oath, such as Charley Ottley.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough his exceptional documentaries, <em>Wild Carpathia<\/em>\u00a0and <em>Flavours of Romania,<\/em>\u00a0he has masterfully captured the spirit, authenticity, and picturesque beauty of Romania,\u201d said the interim president of the ANC, Claudia \u0162apardel.<\/p>\n<p>Ottley stated in September of this year that he had submitted his citizenship application five years ago, and that the process proved slow. Around the same time as his application, Ottley became\u00a0an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.romania-insider.com\/ottley-honorary-citizen-brasov-sept-2020\">honorary citizen of Bra\u0219ov<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The British journalist is a well-known figure in Romania. He was awarded the Cross of the Romanian Royal House for <em>Wild Carpathia<\/em>, received the award for the best campaign promoting Romania abroad at the Romania Insider Awards, along with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.romania-insider.com\/ottley-cultural-merit-order-jan-2021\">Cultural Merit Order<\/a>, as well as the award for \u201cThe Most Important Initiative in Media and Journalism\u201d at the Romania TopHotel Awards.<\/p>\n<p>He produced several promotional materials about Transylvania and Bra\u0219ov, which were broadcast by national television stations and by BBC World.
