{"id":7532,"date":"2025-11-04T08:01:17","date_gmt":"2025-11-04T08:01:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=7532"},"modified":"2025-11-04T08:01:17","modified_gmt":"2025-11-04T08:01:17","slug":"romania-eyes-safe-funding-to-revive-mangalia-shipyard-and-boost-defence-production","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=7532","title":{"rendered":"Romania eyes SAFE funding to revive Mangalia shipyard and boost defence production"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Romania\u2019s minister of economy <strong>Radu Miru\u021b\u0103<\/strong> said on November 3 that a share of the funds allocated to the country under the European Commission\u2019s Security Action For Europe (SAFE) programme could be used to revitalise the Mangalia shipyard and strengthen the country\u2019s defence and transport infrastructure, <a href=\"https:\/\/economedia.ro\/ministrul-economiei-da-detalii-despre-viitoarele-investitii-de-aparare-finantate-din-programul-safe-radu-miruta-suntem-in-discutii-pentru-armament-zona-navala-masina-de-lupta-a-infanteriei-arma-d.html?mc_cid=bc231c5730&amp;mc_eid=cd1f92f96c\" target=\"_blank\">Economedia.ro<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are in discussions for armaments, the naval area, the infantry fighting vehicle, the assault weapon, drones,\u201d Miru\u021b\u0103 stated.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He explained that Romania\u2019s allocation under the SAFE scheme is divided into two components: around EUR 11 billion for military production and approximately EUR 5 billion for transport infrastructure, which supports the national defence industry by ensuring the logistics necessary for moving military equipment.<\/p>\n<p>The minister emphasised that the Mangalia shipyard, which has faced financial difficulties in recent years, could benefit from the naval investment component.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He added that Romania is analysing all potential projects in coordination with the Ministry of Defence, the Prime Minister\u2019s Office and the Presidential Administration to identify the most efficient ways to supply the army with essential equipment.<\/p>\n<p>Miru\u021b\u0103 also said that the government ordinance concerning investments financed from the SAFE programme is designed to accelerate and simplify procedures for the modernisation of the national defence industry.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe ordinance was sent to the advising ministries last week. All ministries have approved it.
