His announcement came as a new Avangarde poll showed a close race for Bucharest\u2019s top job, led by the mayors of districts 4 and 6.<\/p>\n<p>The government <a href=\"https:\/\/www.romania-insider.com\/government-bucharest-mayor-elections-december-2025\" target=\"_blank\">has officially scheduled the election for Bucharest\u2019s general mayor<\/a> for Sunday, December 7.\u00a0The capital city must choose a new mayor after Nicu\u0219or Dan\u2019s election as president of Romania in May.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In a post on social media addressed to residents of his district, Ciprian Ciucu called his decision \u201ca message of continuity, not farewell.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDistrict 6 is more or less in order, now it\u2019s time to focus on the whole of Bucharest,\u201d he wrote. \u201cI\u2019m not leaving; I\u2019m staying here in our city, just moving to another level.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ciucu said his campaign will center on improving public services, urban planning, and the overall quality of life in the capital, under the slogan Bucure\u0219tiul pus la punct (Getting Bucharest in order). He promised cleaner streets, better air, reliable heating and public transport, and stricter urban development standards.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ll soon start drafting my program. No one writes it for me &#8211; I\u2019ve always written my own programs, so I know exactly what I\u2019m committing to. It will be concise, because I simply don\u2019t have the time to write a detailed one,\u201d Ciucu said.<\/p>\n\n<p>According to an Avangarde survey conducted between October 19 and 25, District 4 mayor Daniel B\u0103lu\u021b\u0103 (PSD) leads with 25%, followed closely by Ciprian Ciucu (PNL) with 23%.
