{"id":7184,"date":"2025-10-10T14:00:29","date_gmt":"2025-10-10T14:00:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=7184"},"modified":"2025-10-10T14:00:29","modified_gmt":"2025-10-10T14:00:29","slug":"taifas-timisoara-festival-to-feature-radu-jude-retrospective-music-and-literary-events","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=7184","title":{"rendered":"Taifas: Timi\u0219oara festival to feature Radu Jude retrospective, music, and literary events"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The third edition of <em>Taifas Balkan Film and Culture Festival<\/em>, set to take place in Timi\u0219oara between October 13 and October 19, will include a retrospective dedicated to Romanian director Radu Jude.<\/p>\n<p>The public will be able to see the director&#8217;s short films, in addition to a preview of his latest production, <em>Dracula<\/em>, presented at the Locarno festival this summer.<\/p>\n<p>The selection of short films will take viewers from <em>The Tube with a Hat<\/em>, a tender road-movie about a child and his father, to <em>Alexandra<\/em>, <em>The Morning<\/em> and <em>Shadow of a Cloud<\/em>, intimate stories about fragile relationships and revealing encounters. The program also includes screenings of <em>It Can Pass through the Wall<\/em>, <em>The Marshal&#8217;s Two Executions<\/em>, a visual essay on history and propaganda, <em>Caricaturana<\/em>, a collage inspired by Eisenstein and Daumier, and <em>The Potemkinists<\/em>, a comedy about art and memory.<\/p>\n<p><em>A Film for Friends<\/em>, an experiment filmed as an anonymous clip from the internet, about a man who records his farewell message, and <em>The Dead Nation<\/em>, the documentary essay about Costic\u0103 Acsinte&#8217;s photographs, will also be screened.<\/p>\n<p>Ivana Mladenovi\u0107&#8217;s <em>Sorella di Clausura<\/em>, awarded at the Sarajevo film festival for best direction, will be presented at the festival as a national premiere. Filmed in Timi\u0219oara, Bucharest, and Moldova Nou\u0103, the film is an empathetic parody of romantic melodramas, with Katia Pascariu in the lead role.<\/p>\n<p>The festival&#8217;s selection features award-winning films from major festivals of the year, including Locarno, Venice, Sarajevo, S\u00e3o Paulo, and Hot Docs, by directors from North Macedonia, Croatia, Serbia, Greece, Montenegro, Bulgaria, and Romania. Among them are <em>God Will Not Help<\/em>, directed by Hana Ju\u0161i\u0107; <em>Possibility of Paradise<\/em>, directed by Mladen Kova\u010devi\u0107; <em>Riviera<\/em>, directed by Orfeas Peretzis; <em>Arni<\/em>, directed by Dorka Vermes; <em>Wondrous Is the Silence of My Master<\/em>, directed by Ivan Salati\u0107; <em>Yugo Florida<\/em>, directed by Vladimir Tagi\u0107; <em>She Loved Blossoms More<\/em>, directed by Yannis Veslemes; and <em>Little Trouble Girls<\/em>, directed by Ur\u0161ka Djuki\u0107.<\/p>\n<p>The program also includes a concert by Kottarashky and The Rain Dogs, the Bulgarian Balkan fusion band that combines jazz, blues, and traditional rhythms, and a Balkan Disco Party with Ligia Ke\u0219i\u0219ian and Lucas Molina, in a DJ meant as a &#8220;multicultural carousel.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><em>(Photo: the organizers)<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>simona@romania-insider.com<\/em><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The third edition of Taifas Balkan Film and Culture Festival, set to take place in Timi\u0219oara between October 13 and October 19, will include a retrospective dedicated to Romanian director Radu Jude.
