{"id":5968,"date":"2025-07-18T12:00:43","date_gmt":"2025-07-18T12:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=5968"},"modified":"2025-07-18T12:00:43","modified_gmt":"2025-07-18T12:00:43","slug":"venice-film-festival-romanian-director-cristian-mungiu-member-of-this-years-jury","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=5968","title":{"rendered":"Venice Film Festival: Romanian director Cristian Mungiu, member of this year\u2019s jury"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Romanian director <strong>Cristian Mungiu<\/strong> will be part of the jury that will judge the films in the main competition of this year\u2019s Venice Film Festival &#8211; Venezia 82.<\/p>\n<p>The jury, headed by American director\u00a0Alexander Payne, includes French director and screenwriter\u00a0St\u00e9phane Briz\u00e9, Italian director and screenwriter\u00a0Maura Delpero, Iranian director and writer\u00a0Mohammad Rasoulof, Brazilian actress, writer, and screenwriter\u00a0Fernanda Torres, and Chinese actress\u00a0Zhao Tao.<\/p>\n<p>They will award the Golden Lion\u00a0for Best Film,\u00a0the Silver Lion\u00a0&#8211; Grand Jury Prize,\u00a0the Silver Lion\u00a0for Best Director,\u00a0Coppa Volpi\u00a0for Best Actress,<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Coppa Volpi<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>for Best Actor, the Award for\u00a0Best Screenplay,\u00a0the Special Jury Prize, and\u00a0the Marcello Mastroianni Award<strong>\u00a0<\/strong>for Best New Young Actor or Actress.<\/p>\n<p>Mungiu won the Palme d\u2019Or at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival for <em>4 Months, 3 Weeks, and 2 Days.<\/em> Also at the Cannes Film Festival, he won the Best Screenplay award in 2012 for <em>Beyond the Hills<\/em> &#8211; a movie that earned the Best Actress award for the two female leads &#8211; and the Best Director award in 2016 for <em>Graduation<\/em>, an accolade he shared that year with Olivier Assayas. His feature film <em>R.M.N.<\/em> was included in the festival\u2019s main competition in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>He founded the production company Mobra Films in 2003, the distribution company Voodoo Films in 2006, and the NGO Asociatia Cinemascop in 2010, as well as the film festivals <em>Les Films de Cannes a Bucarest<\/em> and <em>American Independent Film Festival<\/em>.\u00a0In 2023, he published\u00a0<em>Tania Ionascu, my grandmother.
