The famous Pompidou Center in Paris will organize a retrospective of the complete works of Romanian director Radu Jude between September 23 and October 11.<\/p>\n
The retrospective brings together films made over twenty years by the prolific Romanian director. The event will open and close with two of the most recent films, namely \u201cKontinental 25\u201d and \u201cDracula,\u201d according to a press release posted by the Romanian Embassy to France on social media.<\/p>\n
The film program, reuniting 17 films by the \u201cfilmmaker of unease,\u201d as critics have called Jude, will take place at MK2 Biblioth\u00e8que while the historic building undergoes renovation. This large-scale program is realized in partnership with the Pompidou Center, \u00c9ditions de l\u2019\u0152il, The Film Gallery, M\u00e9t\u00e9ore Films, and with the support of the Romanian Cultural Institute in Paris and the Consulate General of Romania in Marseille.<\/p>\n
The director will be present during the retrospective and will hold a masterclass, moderated by university professor and film critic Andrei Gorzo.\u00a0A monograph dedicated to the filmmaker will also be published. The book, titled\u00a0\u201cThe End of Cinema Can Wait,\u201d co-edited with Les \u00c9ditions de l\u2019\u0152il, brings together fragments from the filmmaker\u2019s journal, a comprehensive interview, as well as several texts written by international film figures.<\/p>\n
Born in 1977, Jude is one of the most acclaimed contemporary filmmakers. He won the Golden Bear at Berlinale 2021 with \u201cBad Luck Banging or Loony Porn\u201d and the Silver Bear for directing with \u201cAferim!\u201d in 2015. Among his films are \u201cThe Happiest Girl in the World\u201d (2009), \u201cI Do Not Care If We Go Down in History as Barbarians\u201d (2018), and \u201cDo Not Expect Too Much from the End of the World\u201d (2023), which won multiple awards at the Locarno film festival.<\/p>\n
