{"id":5391,"date":"2025-06-10T10:01:24","date_gmt":"2025-06-10T10:01:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=5391"},"modified":"2025-06-10T10:01:24","modified_gmt":"2025-06-10T10:01:24","slug":"romanian-president-nicusor-dan-and-spains-king-felipe-vi-highlight-nato-unity-during-visit-to-cincu-military-base","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=5391","title":{"rendered":"Romanian president Nicu\u0219or Dan and Spain\u2019s King Felipe VI highlight NATO unity during visit to Cincu military base"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Romanian president Nicu\u0219or Dan welcomed King Felipe VI of Spain on Tuesday, June 10, at the Getica Joint Training Center in Cincu, Bra\u0219ov county, during a visit underscoring the close bilateral ties between the two nations and their shared commitment to European and Euro-Atlantic security.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking alongside the Spanish monarch, president Dan praised Spain\u2019s continued role in reinforcing NATO\u2019s Eastern Flank, emphasizing the strategic importance of allied cooperation in the current security climate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are going through an important, yet also challenging time for European and Euro-Atlantic security,\u201d the president said, thanking Spain for its \u201cconcrete and consistent contribution\u201d to regional stability through its troops\u2019 deployment in NATO\u2019s Battle Group stationed in Romania.<\/p>\n<p>The two leaders addressed soldiers from several allied nations, including Spain, France, Belgium, and Luxembourg, who are participating in joint training activities at the base.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Romanian president acknowledged their collective efforts in enhancing NATO\u2019s deterrence and defense posture in the Black Sea region, highlighting that \u201conly together will we be more effective and more determined in ensuring a stable security environment.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Nicu\u0219or Dan also highlighted the strong people-to-people connection between the two countries, noting that over one million Romanians live and work in Spain. He expressed gratitude to King Felipe for the Spanish authorities\u2019 ongoing support for the Romanian diaspora.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour visit sends a strong message of unity and friendship between our nations,\u201d Dan said, expressing confidence in the continued development of Romanian-Spanish relations.<\/p>\n<p>In his turn, King Felipe VI expressed his gratitude \u201cfor the affection and hospitality\u201d of the Romanian side, including to the Spanish military personnel deployed in Romania.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn a time of so many shifts and uncertainty, the international order is changing, and yet, we, Spain and Romania, are clearly reaffirming our strategic partnership that was established in 2013 and is based on the strongest possible links &#8211; our people,\u201d the Spanish King said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The monarch also referred to Spain and Romania\u2019s shared vision of the European Union, their membership of NATO, and joint deterrence and defense operations, including the Air Policing missions on the eastern flank.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn this spirit, we\u2019re precisely here in Romania, the country that feels every day the effects of the war in Ukraine, of the Russian invasion &#8211; we wish to reaffirm Spain\u2019s determination to continue our support of the Ukrainian people in defending those fundamental principles and values that we all share as Europeans,\u201d King Felipe also stated.<\/p>\n\n<p>King Felipe VI previously visited Romania in July 2009 as Prince of Asturias, together with his wife, the current Queen Letizia, according to news agency <a href=\"https:\/\/agerpres.ro\/politic\/2025\/06\/10\/regele-felipe-al-vi-lea-si-presedintele-nicusor-dan-au-ajuns-la-centrul-de-instruire-intrunita-de-la--1457883\" target=\"_blank\">Agerpres<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Getica Joint National Training Center in Cincu is a military facility under the authority of the Romanian Land Forces General Staff, located in the commune of Cincu, Bra\u0219ov county.
