This is a 1.21% increase on the previous RON 4.9775\/EUR exchange rate and the first time it has exceeded the RON 5 threshold, marking a historical high.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The exchange rate stood at an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bnro.ro\/Raport-statistic-606.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">average <\/a>of RON 4.97\/EUR last year, and RON\u00a04.94\/EUR the year before.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The RON 5\/EUR exchange rate is seen as a psychological threshold that hasn\u2019t been crossed despite the various crises experienced in the past five years.<\/p>\n<p>The shift comes as prime minister <a href=\"https:\/\/www.romania-insider.com\/predoiu-interim-pm-may-2025\" target=\"_blank\">Marcel Ciolacu resigned on May 5 <\/a>and the Social Democrat Party (PSD) pulled out of the governing coalition.
