{"id":4784,"date":"2025-04-28T11:59:15","date_gmt":"2025-04-28T11:59:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=4784"},"modified":"2025-04-28T11:59:15","modified_gmt":"2025-04-28T11:59:15","slug":"i-only-rest-in-the-storm-film-with-romanian-co-producers-in-cannes-festivals-un-certain-regard-section","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=4784","title":{"rendered":"I Only Rest in the Storm: Film with Romanian co-producers in Cannes Festival\u2019s Un Certain Regard section"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>O Riso e a Faca\/ I Only Rest in the Storm<\/em>, the second feature film of Portuguese director Pedro Pinho, has been added to the selection of Cannes Film Festival\u2019s Un Certain Regard section, which highlights \u201cnew trends, new paths and new countries of cinema.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The film is co-produced by Still Moving (France), Bubbles Project (Brazil), and Bucharest-based deFilm, and produced by Uma Pedra no Sapato and Terratreme Filmes (Portugal).<\/p>\n<p>Pedro Pinho studied at the Lisbon Theatre and Film School, at the ENS \u2013 Louis Lumi\u00e8re, and completed the post-graduate courses of Directing and Screenwriting at the London Film School at the C. Gulbenkian Foundation. He made his debut with the documentary <em>Bab Sebta<\/em>, co-directed with Frederico Lobo, which premiered at FIDMarseille in 2008, where it won the Marseille Esp\u00e9rance Prize.<\/p>\n<p>He then directed <em>Um Fim do Mundo<\/em>, which was screened in the Generation section of the Berlinale in 2013, and in 2014, the documentary <em>As Cidades e as Trocas<\/em>, co-directed with Lu\u00edsa Homem, which was screened at both FIDMarseille and Art of the Real at Lincoln Center in New York.<\/p>\n<p>In 2017, his first fiction feature, <em>A F\u00e1brica de Nada<\/em>, premiered in the Directors\u2019 Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival, where it won the FIPRESCI Prize awarded by the International Critics, and went on to win 20 other awards at festivals around the world. He is the co-founder of Terratreme Filmes.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cWith <em>I Only Rest in the Storm<\/em>, I wanted to develop further the experiment initiated in <em>A F\u00e1brica de Nada<\/em>, placing the discourse at the center of a collective wound \u2014 the neocolonial frontier. [\u2026] In essence, it is a story of encounters, disappearance, and unequal expectations \u2014 a search for escape routes, both intimate and political,\u201d Pinho explains.<\/p>\n<p>This film \u201cis an impressive odyssey at a narrative and visual level.
