{"id":4580,"date":"2025-04-14T06:59:46","date_gmt":"2025-04-14T06:59:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=4580"},"modified":"2025-04-14T06:59:46","modified_gmt":"2025-04-14T06:59:46","slug":"curs-poll-shows-ruling-coalitions-candidate-gaining-ground-ahead-of-may-presidential-elections-in-romania","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=4580","title":{"rendered":"CURS poll shows ruling coalition\u2019s candidate gaining ground ahead of May presidential elections in Romania"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The latest electoral poll on the May presidential elections in Romania confirms the leading position of far-right candidate and AUR leader George Simion (26% of the options expressed by those polled), followed closely by the ruling coalition\u2019s candidate <strong>Crin Antonescu <\/strong>(23%).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The independent candidate Nicusor Dan, the current mayor of Bucharest, comes in third place with 19%, followed by Victor Ponta (independent, 16%), <a href=\"https:\/\/hotnews.ro\/sondaj-curs-george-simion-este-pe-primul-loc-cu-trei-procente-peste-urmatorul-candidat-cum-arata-lupta-pentru-locul-2-scenarii-pentru-finala-prezidentiala-1947259\" target=\"_blank\">Hotnews.ro<\/a> reported. The candidate of the reformist party USR would get 8% of the votes.<\/p>\n<p>The key findings of this poll are the low score of Simion (seen at above 30% by the other surveys) and the strong position of the ruling coalition\u2019s candidate, Antonescu.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The poll was carried out before <a href=\"https:\/\/www.romania-insider.com\/usr-nicusor-dan-elena-lasconi-presidential-elections-april-2025\" target=\"_blank\">USR changed its mind and withdrew support for its candidate, Elena Lasconi, to back Nicusor Dan<\/a>.
