The decision was announced in a government decision project published by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and quoted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.libertatea.ro\/stiri\/romania-desfiinteaza-peste-30-de-puncte-de-frontiera-la-1-ianuarie-2025-aderarea-la-schengen-lista-completa-5136837\" target=\"_blank\">Libertatea.ro<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The measure follows <a href=\"https:\/\/www.romania-insider.com\/romania-full-schengen-official-january-2025\" target=\"_blank\">the decision of the Council of the EU adopted on December 12, 2024<\/a>, which stipulates that starting January 1, 2025, internal land border checks for individuals between Bulgaria, Hungary, and Romania will be eliminated, the document reads.<\/p>\n<p>However, Libertatea.ro noted, Romania and Bulgaria have agreed to continue random checks for another six months.<\/p>\n<p>According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/webapp.mai.gov.ro\/frontend\/documente_transparenta\/706_1734711431_HG.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">official document<\/a>, starting from January 1, 2025, the following border crossing points of Romania will be permanently closed:<\/p>\n<p>I.
