{"id":2995,"date":"2024-12-12T08:00:34","date_gmt":"2024-12-12T08:00:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=2995"},"modified":"2024-12-12T08:00:34","modified_gmt":"2024-12-12T08:00:34","slug":"romania-bulgaria-to-become-full-schengen-members-after-the-netherlands-drops-objections","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=2995","title":{"rendered":"Romania, Bulgaria to become full Schengen members after The Netherlands drops objections"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Netherlands has officially given the green light to the full admission of Bulgaria and Romania to the Schengen area following a vote in the Dutch Parliament to endorse the government&#8217;s recent decision in this regard, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.profit.ro\/perspective\/ultima-ora-dispare-inca-o-emotie-parlamentul-olandez-a-dat-unda-verde-pentru-aderarea-deplina-a-romaniei-la-spatiul-schengen-un-partid-extremist-cel-mai-mare-de-la-guvernare-a-incercat-sa-blocheze-21865502?mc_cid=197f6ee83c&amp;mc_eid=cd1f92f96c\" target=\"_blank\">Profit.ro<\/a> reported.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>On December 12, EU interior ministers are set to vote in Brussels on the full admission of Bulgaria and Romania to the Schengen area.<\/p>\n<p>If the decision is approved in the December 12 JHA Council, controls at land borders between and with Romania and Bulgaria will be eliminated starting January 1, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>Austria previously officially announced that it was dropping its opposition to Romania and Bulgaria&#8217;s full accession to the Schengen area, the last obstacle in this process.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We can move on to the next step at the EU (Justice and Home Affairs) Council.
