{"id":2965,"date":"2024-12-10T14:02:33","date_gmt":"2024-12-10T14:02:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=2965"},"modified":"2024-12-10T14:02:33","modified_gmt":"2024-12-10T14:02:33","slug":"romanian-tax-authorities-investigating-far-right-politician-calin-georgescu-and-influencers-who-promoted-him","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=2965","title":{"rendered":"Romanian tax authorities investigating far-right politician C\u0103lin Georgescu and influencers who promoted him"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Romania\u2019s tax authorities are investigating <strong>C\u0103lin Georgescu<\/strong> and the influencers who promoted him on TikTok after the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) alerted the National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) that the pro-Russian presidential candidate ran his campaign with zero funds, despite ample evidence to the contrary.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>ANAF quickly revealed that several influencers were paid to disseminate online messages in support of C\u0103lin Georgescu before the first tour of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.romania-insider.com\/ccr-annuls-presidential-elections-romania-december-2024\">now-annulled presidential elections<\/a>\u00a0on November 24. The institution stated that all the information received from the Permanent Electoral Authority is being used in risk analyses and investigations related to tax evasion and fraud.<\/p>\n<p>Tax inspectors will report irregularities to the relevant institutions once identified, and more individuals may be included in the investigation, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.digi24.ro\/stiri\/actualitate\/evenimente\/calin-georgescu-si-influencerii-care-l-au-promovat-pe-tiktok-sunt-verificati-de-anaf-3040443\">Digi24<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Some influencers who supported Georgescu on TikTok immediately posted videos announcing they were either at the Bulgarian border or on planes, leaving Romania permanently after the elections were annulled. These influencers initially supported Georgescu after being paid but later distanced themselves from him following <a href=\"https:\/\/www.romania-insider.com\/romania-declassified-reports-calin-georgescu-presidential-elections-2024\">the declassification of official CSAT (Supreme Council of National Defense) documents<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Last weekend, prosecutors also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.romania-insider.com\/backers-calin-georgescu-raided-detained-illegal-funds-weapons-2024\">raided three homes<\/a> in Bra\u0219ov, targeting Bogdan Pe\u0219chir, who allegedly funded C\u0103lin Georgescu\u2019s TikTok campaign with EUR 1 million.
