The 1,400 km trail connects as many as 12 UNESCO World Heritage sites.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe medieval city of Brasov is the gateway to the Transylvania region, a land of ancient forests, rustic villages, and Carpathian peaks.\u200b\u200b And with its new airport &#8211; Romania\u2019s first in 50 years &#8211; Dracula\u2019s homeland is more approachable,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nationalgeographic.com\/travel\/slideshow\/best-of-the-world-2025\">National Geographic article<\/a> says.<\/p>\n<p>The feature also details the Via Transilvanica itself, a trail that \u201cruns 870 miles from the Ukrainian border to the Danube.
