{"id":1549,"date":"2024-09-05T07:59:52","date_gmt":"2024-09-05T07:59:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=1549"},"modified":"2024-09-05T07:59:52","modified_gmt":"2024-09-05T07:59:52","slug":"mircea-cartarescu-teaches-romanian-literature-course-at-columbia-university-in-new-york","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=1549","title":{"rendered":"Mircea C\u0103rt\u0103rescu teaches Romanian literature course at Columbia University in New York"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Renowned Romanian writer Mircea C\u0103rt\u0103rescu is the <a href=\"https:\/\/harriman.columbia.edu\/writer-in-residence-spotlight-mircea-cartarescu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harriman Institute\u2019s\u00a02024 Writer in Residence<\/a> at Columbia University in New York, where he will teach the four-week course\u00a0\u201cPostmodernism vs. Tyranny: A Romanian Literary Revolution,\u201d the Romanian Embassy to the US announced.<\/p>\n<p>The course will examine the legendary Generation of the 1980s (the Blue Jeans generation) in Romanian literature, and its relationship with the Beat generation in American poetry on one hand, and with American Postmodernism in fiction, on the other, reads the course\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/doc.sis.columbia.edu\/#subj\/CLSL\/G6103-20243-001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">presentation<\/a>. It will be conducted in English.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n<p>An award-winning poet, novelist, literary critic, journalist, and professor, Mircea C\u0103rt\u0103rescu is one of the most translated and awarded Romanian authors.
