{"id":1537,"date":"2024-09-04T12:23:53","date_gmt":"2024-09-04T12:23:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=1537"},"modified":"2024-09-04T12:23:53","modified_gmt":"2024-09-04T12:23:53","slug":"tiff-sibiu-announces-18th-edition-in-september","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=1537","title":{"rendered":"TIFF Sibiu announces 18th edition in September"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TIFF Sibiu will take place from September 12\u201315 this year, bringing Romanian film premieres, Hollywood blockbusters, music documentaries, and a focus on German cinema to screens in the Transylvanian city&#8217;s Pia\u021ba Mare, CineGold, and the German Forum.<\/p>\n<p>Directors, actors, and screenwriters are expected in the city.\u00a0The festival will feature some 30 films, among which will be the most anticipated Romanian productions of the year.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Perhaps the most awaited Romanian film of the year, <em>Morome\u021bii 3<\/em> (directed by Stere Gulea), will have a special preview, with the team in attendance, at TIFF Sibiu. The final film in Stere Gulea&#8217;s trilogy, based on the novels by Marin Preda, <em>Morome\u021bii 3<\/em> centers on Niculae, Ilie Moromete&#8217;s youngest son, now a young writer tasked with supporting the party line and participating in collectivization. The top-tier cast includes Alex C\u0103lin, Hora\u021biu M\u0103l\u0103ele, Mara Bugarin, Olimpia Melinte, Iulian Postelnicu, and R\u0103zvan Vasilescu.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Another unique screening will be <em>The New Year That Wasn&#8217;t,<\/em> the feature film debut of director Bogdan Mure\u0219anu, which recently premiered in the Orizzonti section of the Venice Film Festival. The film, a tragicomedy set on a single day before the 1989 Revolution, stars Adrian V\u0103ncic\u0103, Iulian Postelnicu, Emilia Dobrin, Mihai C\u0103lin, and Nicoleta H\u00e2ncu.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>With an impressive cast &#8211; Maia Morgenstern, Rodica Laz\u0103r, Rodica Negrea, Diana Gheorghian, Nelu Serghei, and Claudiu Istodor &#8211;\u00a0<em>Rusalka<\/em> (directed by Claudiu Mitcu) presents five old friends spending a few days together at a resort they used to visit in their youth. One of them delivers news that will disrupt their vacation and their lives.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The TIFF Sibiu program also includes other new Romanian films, such as <em>Clasat <\/em>(directed by Horia Cucuta, George Ganeard), a story constructed like an investigative report that won the Romanian Days Award at TIFF.23, and <em>Where the Elephants Go<\/em> (directed by Gabi Virginia \u0218arga, C\u0103t\u0103lin Rotaru), a tale of love and friendship between three characters facing a difficult moment in their lives.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The full four-day festival program can be found at Sibiu.tiff.ro and on the festival&#8217;s Facebook page.
