The case was sent to the High Court of Cassation and Justice, according to local news agency <a href=\"https:\/\/agerpres.ro\/justitie\/2026\/10\/22\/deputatul-aur-dan-tanasa-trimis-in-judecata-pentru-incitare-la-ura-si-discriminare-impotriva-imigran--1605701\">Agerpres<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In the August 19, 2025 post, Tanas\u0103 called on Romanians to reject orders unless they were delivered by Romanian workers. He also opposed bringing workers from Asia and Africa to Romania and linked immigration to what he described as an \u201cIslamist wave\u201d affecting Western Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecutors said the message publicly incited hatred and discrimination against workers from Asia and Africa based on race, nationality, ethnicity, and religion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cActs of discrimination can seriously disrupt relations between citizens, as they affect social relations, which must be based on mutual respect,\u201d the General Prosecutor\u2019s Office <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mpublic.ro\/index.php\/ro\/comunicate-de-presa-piccj\/2026-10-piccj\/c_2026-10-22--12-03-33\">said<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecution also addressed Dan Tanas\u0103\u2019s parliamentary immunity. It said lawmakers are protected for votes and political opinions expressed while exercising their mandates but may be investigated and prosecuted for acts unrelated to those activities.<\/p>\n<p>In a reaction on social media, former police officer Marian Godin\u0103 said that he had filed the criminal complaint that led to the case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am the person who filed the criminal complaint against [Dan Tanas\u0103],\u201d Godin\u0103 wrote.<\/p>\n<p>He also claimed that he had faced continued harassment from the lawmaker\u2019s associates since filing the complaint and said he planned to take further action.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo?fbid=1712659086887926&amp;set=a.301233174697198\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/photo?fbid=1712659086887926&amp;set=a.301233174697198<\/a><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Romanian prosecutors have indicted Dan Tanas\u0103, a lawmaker from the far-right Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR), over a Facebook post urging consumers to boycott deliveries made by immigrant workers.
