Banca Transilvania announced that it is providing EUR 14 million in financing for the expansion and modernisation of Turda Salt Mine, one of Romania\u2019s best-known tourist attractions. The wider investment is valued at approximately EUR 25 million and is expected to take around two years to complete.<\/p>\n
The project will extend the underground visitor route by transforming Iosif Mine, currently visible only from a distance, into a new attraction equipped with panoramic lifts, walkways, and an artificial salt river.<\/p>\n
Iosif is one of the four mines that make up the Turda complex, alongside the Rudolf, Ghizela, and Terezia mines. Parts of the attraction lie more than 100 metres underground.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am pleased that Turda Salt Mine is continuing to develop,\u201d said Tiberiu Mois\u0103, deputy CEO for corporate and SME banking at Banca Transilvania. \u201cI am delighted that we are supporting an investment that will further enhance the site.\u201d<\/p>\n
The project also includes the modernisation of the salt mine\u2019s treatment facilities. The developers expect the investment to increase tourism activity and generate wider benefits for the local economy.<\/p>\n
Banca Transilvania\u2019s financing is guaranteed through Romania\u2019s Investment and Development Bank, while TUD Investment Consulting acted as intermediary for the project.<\/p>\n
