Around 36% of respondents believe that the current political crisis should definitely be resolved by holding snap elections, while 11% rather agree with this option.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, 26% are rather against holding snap elections, while 21% say they are definitely against it, according to the survey.<\/p>\n

At the same time, 79% of respondents believe that Romania is heading in the wrong direction, while only 15% believe that the country is heading in the right direction. 6% did not express an opinion.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe results indicate that a high level of dissatisfaction among the population is being maintained. The difference between negative and positive assessments is significant, and the high proportion of dissatisfied people shows that the negative assessment of the country\u2019s direction is widespread among the population,\u201d the study\u2019s authors reported.<\/p>\n

CURS<\/a> also looked at the changing level of support for Romanian political parties. As such, if parliamentary elections were held next Sunday, far-right Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) would receive 34% of the votes, followed by the Romanian Social Democrats (PSD) with 25% and the National Liberal Party (PNL) with 18%.<\/p>\n

The center-right reformist Union Save Romania Party (USR) would get 8% of the vote, while the Hungarian minority party UDMR would get 5% of the vote, the minimum to enter the Romanian legislature.<\/p>\n

Smaller parties would not enter the Parliament at all. S.O.S. Romania would receive 3%, while the Nationalist Party Reforming Romania – Piedone, Conservative Action and SENS were each credited with 2%. Other options accounted for 1%.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe results place AUR in first place in electoral preferences, 9% ahead of PSD. The first three parties together account for more than three-quarters of the expressed voting preferences,\u201d the researchers said.<\/p>\n

According to the same source, compared with the results from August, AUR remains at 34%, while PSD rises from 24% to 25%.<\/p>\n

\u201cPNL falls from 20% to 18%, while USR falls from 10% to 8%,\u201d CURS reported.<\/p>\n

The poll was conducted between September 16 and 22, 2026, on a sample of 1,100 respondents aged 18 and over, representative of Romania\u2019s resident adult population. The sample is probabilistic, multi-stage, and stratified, and the maximum margin of error is +\/- 3% at a confidence level of 95%.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
