Asternova Centru, a EUR 8.061 million regional venture capital fund, will be launched on September 30 in Bra\u0219ov.<\/p>\n
Of the fund\u2019s total capital, EUR 7.058 million is public funding provided through the Central Regional Development Agency (ADR Centru), which is acting as the anchor investor.<\/p>\n
The fund will invest between EUR 50,000 and EUR 350,000 in pre-seed and seed-stage technology startups from Alba, Bra\u0219ov, Covasna, Harghita, Mure\u0219, and Sibiu counties, to build a portfolio of 40 companies.<\/p>\n
Asternova Centru is managed by Aster Capital Partners and developed in partnership with Iceberg+ and Venture Booster.<\/p>\n
The financial instrument is implemented with co-financing from the European Regional Development Fund through the 2021\u20132027 Central Regional Program.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe first institutional funding round is one of the most challenging stages for a startup: the company has an MVP or a product that is already working, but it does not yet have enough traction to attract funds offering tickets of more than EUR 1 million. Earlier this year, the Romanian-French consortium made up of Aster Capital Partners (France), Iceberg+, and Venture Booster launched Asternova Vest, a regional venture capital fund with a target size of EUR 37 million, dedicated to startups and technology companies in Romania’s West Region.<\/p>\n
Aster Capital Partners has been an AIFM authorized by France\u2019s Autorit\u00e9 des March\u00e9s Financiers since 2002. The firm has eight funds under management, approximately EUR 600 million in assets under management, and nearly 100 funded companies in its portfolio.<\/p>\n
