You cannot, on such a serious matter, start it with a picture of me and Mr. Pahon\u021bu and five MEPs at a table in Brussels. It is not a matter of gossip. And then, on the facts, it does not prove what it claims to prove,\u201d the president said.<\/p>\n<p>Dan argued that he has no obligation to the security chief but that he tries to be fair \u201cwith all the people I deal with, whether they are politicians or heads of state institutions.\u201d To conclude, Dan again noted that the accusations brought against Pahon\u021bu were unsubstantiated.<\/p>\n<p>Journalists from Recorder responded to the president&#8217;s statements.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInstead of answering this question and commenting on the activity Lucian Pahon\u021bu had during the events of December 1989, the president considered it more important to provide an editorial analysis of the investigation published by Recorder,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n<p>The journalists went on to criticize the president\u2019s comment regarding the security chief and pointed to the existing proof.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn our article, we presented the handwritten statement in which Lucian Pahon\u021bu writes that he was present in the area of the Intercontinental barricade on the night of December 21, 1989,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/myrecorder\/posts\/pfbid038HPM4FF9cbPLcPauRraeynUyegEg1puR5LUTQvoQwGErQcyWzewj9UbMzkfBoeYdl\">https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/myrecorder\/posts\/pfbid038HPM4FF9cbPLcPauRraeynUyegEg1puR5LUTQvoQwGErQcyWzewj9UbMzkfBoeYdl<\/a><\/p>\n<p>According to a Recorder investigation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.romania-insider.com\/society\/journalistic-investigation-security-chief-lucian-pahontus-2026\">published at the end of August<\/a>, Pahon\u021bu, who currently leads a lesser-known military service charged with the protection of Romanian dignitaries, was with his platoon in the repression deployment against protesters who gathered on December 21, 1989, to take down dictator Nicolae Ceau\u0219escu.
