BUKFESZT, the Festival of Hungarian Theatres in Romania, will return to Bucharest for its fifth edition from September 28 to October 6. All performances will have Romanian subtitles and will be staged at the I.L. Caragiale National Theatre, Odeon Theatre, and Bulandra Theatre.<\/p>\n
The festival will bring together theatres and companies from Cluj-Napoca, T\u00e2rgu Mure\u0219, Sf\u00e2ntu Gheorghe, Oradea, Miercurea Ciuc, Satu Mare, Timi\u0219oara, T\u00e2rgu Secuiesc, Odorheiu Secuiesc, and Gheorgheni.<\/p>\n
The program opens on September 28 at Odeon Theatre with I Wanted to Revolt with You (Voiam s\u0103 m\u0103 revolt cu voi)<\/em> by B\u00f3di Attila, directed by Sebesty\u00e9n Aba, followed by Ferenc Moln\u00e1r\u2019s <\/em> Liliom, directed by Albu Istv\u00e1n.<\/p>\n Among the classic works featured are Eug\u00e8ne Ionesco\u2019s The Bald Soprano (C\u00e2nt\u0103rea\u021ba cheal\u0103)<\/em>, directed by Tompa G\u00e1bor; Anton Chekhov\u2019s <\/em> The Cherry Orchard, directed by T\u00f3th T\u00fcnde; and William Shakespeare\u2019s <\/em> Macbeth, staged by Stefano T\u00e8.<\/p>\n The selection also includes Luceaf\u0103rul<\/em> by Mihai Eminescu, directed by Ciprian Hu\u021banu; Ferdinand von Schirach\u2019s <\/em> Terror; Radu Afrim\u2019s <\/em> The Community \u2013 Eco-Romance; and a dance production of <\/em> Dirty Dancing choreographed by Eryk Makohon.<\/p>\n Contemporary productions include K\u00e9sz Orsolya\u2019s The Lives of Others<\/em>, directed by David Schwartz; <\/em> donjuan, based on works by Max Frisch and Moli\u00e8re; and <\/em> The Future President of Romania, based on a text by Radu Popescu.<\/p>\n The festival will close on October 6 at the Bucharest National Theatre with Jon Fosse\u2019s I Am the Wind<\/em>, directed by Tompa G\u00e1bor and performed by the Hungarian State Theatre of Cluj.<\/p>\n BUKFESZT is organized by MASZ\u00cdN, the Association of Hungarian Theatres in Romania, and UNITER, the Romanian Theatre Union.
