The only exception is the Romanian-Moldovan production <em>The Circle <\/em> by Valeriu Andriu\u021b\u0103.<\/p>\n<p>The international competition includes <em>Everytime<\/em><em>, directed by Sandra Wollner; <\/em> 17<em>, by Kosara Mitic; <\/em> No Rest for the Wicked<em>, by Kasper Kalle; <\/em> The Blow \/ La Frappe<em>, by Julien Gaspar-Oliveri; <\/em> The Circle<em>, by Valeriu Andriu\u021b\u0103; <\/em> We Are Aliens<em>, by Kohei Kadowaki; <\/em> Roya<em>, by Mahnaz Mohammadi; and <\/em> Heysel 85, by Teodora Ana Mihai.<\/p>\n<p>Sandra Wollner\u2019s <em>Everytime <\/em> won the Un Certain Regard Award at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival and the Heart of Sarajevo Award for Best Feature Film. <em>17<\/em>, Kosara Mitic\u2019s feature debut, had its world premiere in the Perspectives section of the 2026 Berlinale and subsequently received awards at the Jerusalem Film Festival, Sarajevo Film Festival and Herceg Novi \u2013 Montenegro Film Festival.<\/p>\n<p>Kasper Kalle\u2019s <em>No Rest for the Wicked <\/em> was awarded at the 2026 Fantasia International Film Festival, where the director received the Cheval Noir for Best Director, while Pilou Asb\u00e6k received the Outstanding Performance Award.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Blow \/ La Frappe<\/em>, Julien Gaspar-Oliveri\u2019s feature-length debut, was presented at Cannes 2026 in a special screening at the Semaine de la Critique section. It subsequently received awards at the Festival du Film Francophone d\u2019Angoul\u00eame, where Julien Gaspar-Oliveri won the Valois de la mise en sc\u00e8ne and Diego Murgia the Valois de l\u2019acteur.<\/p>\n<p><em>We Are Aliens<\/em>, by Kohei Kadowaki, had its world premiere at Cannes 2026 in the Quinzaine des Cin\u00e9astes \/ Directors\u2019 Fortnight section, continuing its international festival run in the official feature-film competition at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.<\/p>\n<p><em>Roya<\/em>, by Mahnaz Mohammadi, had its world premiere at the 2026 Berlinale in the Panorama section.<\/p>\n<p><em>Heysel 85<\/em>, by Teodora Ana Mihai, had its world premiere at the 2026 Berlinale in the Berlinale Special Gala section, with the director later receiving the Best Director award at BAFICI 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Valeriu Andriu\u021b\u0103\u2019s <em>The Circle <\/em> was presented at TIFF 2026 as part of the Romanian Days section, where it received a Special Jury Mention.<\/p>\n<p>The 22nd edition of BIFF will take place from September 18 to September 27 at Apollo111, Romanian Peasant Museum Cinema, and DeGalben, the District 1 cultural hub.
