{"id":11155,"date":"2026-07-20T12:01:30","date_gmt":"2026-07-20T12:01:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=11155"},"modified":"2026-07-20T12:01:30","modified_gmt":"2026-07-20T12:01:30","slug":"nae-caranfils-dolce-far-niente-to-screen-in-romanian-cinemas-in-restored-4k-version","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=11155","title":{"rendered":"Nae Caranfil&#8217;s Dolce far niente to screen in Romanian cinemas in restored 4K version"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>Dolce far niente<\/em>, the film written and directed by Romanian filmmaker Nae Caranfil, will be released in local cinemas nearly three decades after it was made.\u00a0The film premiered internationally in 1998 and has been screened at festivals over the years, but it never had a theatrical release in Romania.<\/p>\n<p>Restored and remastered in 4K by the Romanian National Film Archive, the film will be screened as part of a series of events in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Ia\u0219i and Timi\u0219oara.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A co-production between Romania, France, Italy, and Belgium, <em>Dolce far niente<\/em> is inspired by Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric Vitoux&#8217;s novel <em>La Com\u00e9die de Terracina<\/em>. It imagines a fictional meeting between the young Henri Beyle, later known by his pen name Stendhal, and composer Gioachino Rossini in Italy in 1816.<\/p>\n<p>The cast includes Giancarlo Giannini, Fran\u00e7ois Cluzet, Margherita Buy, Isabella Ferrari, and Pierfrancesco Favino. The score was composed by Italian composer Nicola Piovani, who won an Oscar for Best Music for the work on Roberto Benigni\u2019s <em>La vita \u00e8 bella.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The restoration and 4K remastering were carried out between March and November 2025, using the original picture and sound negatives. The color grading was handled by R\u0103zvan Ungureanu under the supervision of cinematographer Cristian Comeag\u0103.
