{"id":10421,"date":"2026-05-29T13:01:36","date_gmt":"2026-05-29T13:01:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=10421"},"modified":"2026-05-29T13:01:36","modified_gmt":"2026-05-29T13:01:36","slug":"central-romania-brasov-sfantu-gheorghe-metropolitan-train-receives-transport-ministry-approval","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=10421","title":{"rendered":"Central Romania: Bra\u0219ov-Sf\u00e2ntu Gheorghe metropolitan train receives Transport Ministry approval"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The metropolitan train connecting Bra\u0219ov and Sf\u00e2ntu Gheorghe received a necessary approval from the Ministry of Transport, according to an announcement made on Thursday, May 28.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The order regarding the establishment of a partnership between the Bra\u0219ov County Council and state-owned national railway operator CFR for the implementation of the metropolitan train project in Bra\u0219ov was signed by transport minister Radu Miru\u021b\u0103 after it had been submitted for public consultation in April.<\/p>\n<p>The next steps in the process include the actual signing of the partnership between the Bra\u0219ov County Council and CFR, followed by the adoption of decisions by the local councils in the partner localities. All of these steps must be finalized by June 30, which is the deadline for submitting the project in order to access European funding.<\/p>\n<p>The project, developed by the County Council, Bra\u0219ov City Hall, the Metropolitan Transport Association, and CFR, aims at operationalizing three railway routes dedicated to commuter transport: TM1: Stupini Halt \u2013 Bra\u0219ov Railway Station, with stops in the Bartolomeu and Tractorul neighborhoods; TM2: Codlea \u2013 Sf\u00e2ntu Gheorghe, with stops in Ghimbav (industrial park), the Airport, and the commune of Prejmer; and TM3: Z\u0103rne\u0219ti \u2013 D\u00e2rste, with stops in all railway stations and new stopping points.<\/p>\n<p>The metropolitan train route is estimated at RON 1.27 billion excluding VAT. Local officials aim to attract EUR 238 million in non-repayable funds through the Sectoral Operational Transport Programme, according to local news outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/bzb.ro\/stire\/trenul-metropolitan-brasov-sfantu-gheorghe-a-primit-aviz-si-de-la-ministerul-transporturilor-a220482\">Buna Ziua Brasov<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The project aims to rehabilitate existing CFR stations and arrange new stopping points, as well as purchase modern and efficient rolling stock.
