{"id":10038,"date":"2026-05-06T10:00:32","date_gmt":"2026-05-06T10:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=10038"},"modified":"2026-05-06T10:00:32","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T10:00:32","slug":"european-social-democratic-group-pes-signals-support-for-romanias-psd-amid-government-dismissal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ofero.news\/?p=10038","title":{"rendered":"European Social-Democratic group PES signals support for Romania\u2019s PSD amid government dismissal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Party of European Socialists (or PES) signaled its support for the Romanian Social Democratic Party (PSD) and the \u201cswift formation of a pro-European government with renewed leadership\u201d after PSD brought down the Liberal-led Ilie Bolojan government on Tuesday, May 5.<\/p>\n<p>In a press release, the European Social-Democrats said that \u201cRomania needs clarity, stability and leadership that delivers for its citizens.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to the political family, \u201ca fully operational government is essential to secure European funding, ensure institutional continuity, protect jobs, safeguard social cohesion, and respond to ongoing cost-of-living pressures.\u201d Moreover, PES stressed that the next government must prioritize social fairness, public investments, and social protection.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRomania needs a government that delivers stability and real improvements in people\u2019s lives. This is not just about political agreements; it is about protecting citizens from economic uncertainty, strengthening social fairness, and restoring trust in democratic institutions. Social democrats stand ready to support a path forward that puts people first,\u201d said PES Secretary General Giacomo Filibeck.<\/p>\n<p>The Romanian government, headed by Liberal (PNL) prime minister Ilie Bolojan, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.romania-insider.com\/ilie-bolojan-government-falls-may-2026\">collapsed after losing a no-confidence vote<\/a> in Parliament on Tuesday, May 5.
